A DPC agreement is not insurance. Membership covers primary care services only. It does not cover specialist fees, emergency room visits, or surgery, and it does not by itself satisfy the Affordable Care Act's coverage requirements. We recommend pairing it with a high-deductible or catastrophic plan.

Starting January 1, 2026, federal law lets people with a health savings account also join a direct primary care practice, and pay the membership with HSA dollars, as long as the fee is $150 a month or less for an individual ($300 for a family).
Westwood's individual membership is $105 a month.

What is direct primary care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a primary care model that puts the patient-physician relationship first by removing insurance companies from everyday care. Think of it like car maintenance: you don't file an auto insurance claim for an oil change. Cutting the billing overhead lets Dr. Park care for fewer patients with more personal attention.
How does membership and billing work?
Memberships are billed monthly with no long-term contract. Individuals pay $105 per month and households pay $95 per member per month, plus a one-time $99 enrollment fee per household. Labs and the few paid procedures are billed to you directly at cost.
Do I still need insurance?
Yes. We strongly recommend keeping at least a high-deductible or catastrophic plan. DPC covers the majority of routine health care needs, but insurance is still needed for hospital stays, emergencies, specialist care, and major procedures.
Do you accept Medicare patients?
Yes. Dr. Park has opted out of Medicare, so we don't bill Medicare for our services. Medicare patients join the same way anyone else does: you pay the monthly membership directly.
Will Medicare or my Medicare Advantage plan pay for my membership?
No. Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medigap plans don't pay for or reimburse the membership, and visits with Dr. Park can't be submitted to Medicare for reimbursement.
Should I keep my Medicare coverage?
Absolutely. Your membership covers your primary care relationship. Medicare still covers hospital stays, specialists, emergency care, surgery, and imaging.
Medicare also still covers the labs, imaging, specialist referrals, equipment, and Part D prescriptions Dr. Park orders, as long as the provider of those services accepts Medicare. For labs, you can use our discounted cash pricing or have them billed to Medicare, whichever costs you less.
Why would I pay for primary care if I already have Medicare?
Medicare pays for visits, but it doesn't guarantee the time, access, and relationship with your physician that many patients want. With a membership, you get same- or next-day appointments, unhurried visits, and a direct line to Dr. Park.
Isn't DPC just concierge medicine?
No. Concierge practices usually charge a membership fee and still bill your insurance. DPC does not bill insurance at all; you pay only the membership. DPC memberships also typically cost considerably less than concierge medicine.
Is Westwood an urgent care or emergency clinic?
No. Members get same- or next-day visits for common, non-emergency problems like infections, rashes, sprains, and stomach bugs. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Can I use my HSA?
As of January 1, 2026, federal law allows people with a health savings account to also have a direct primary care membership, and to pay the fee with HSA funds, when the fee is $150 a month or less for an individual ($300 for a family). Westwood's individual membership is $105 a month. Please confirm the details of your situation with your tax or benefits advisor.
