What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a primary care model that prioritizes the patient-physician relationship by removing insurance companies from the equation. Much like you don't insure your car for oil changes, DPC assumes you shouldn't insure yourself for primary care. Cutting out the insurance middle man reduces administrative waste and allows our physicians to have a reduced panel of patients with whom they can spend the time necessary for good primary care.
How does membership and billing work?
Our memberships are billed monthly with no long-term contracts. Auxiliary treatments are billed directly to the patient at cost. For a list of included and excluded services, see the Pricing page.
Do I still need insurance?
Yes. We strongly recommend that all patients maintain at least a high-deductible or catastrophic insurance plan. DPC handles over 85% of most patients' healthcare needs, but insurance is still necessary for hospital stays, specialist referrals, and major surgeries.
Isn't DPC just concierge medicine?
No. While concierge practices bill patients' insurance in addition to charging a membership fee, DPC practices completely forego insurance billing and only charge a membership fee, with no reduction in the quality of primary care. Moreover, DPC memberships typically fall well below the price point of concierge memberships, making DPC a more affordable option for most patients. Avoiding insurance billing entirely allows DPC practices to avoid the significant administrative costs that incentivize costly fees.
